Definition Cannabis is the common name for Cannabis Sativa Indica, or Indian hemp. This subspecies of Cannabis Sativa L is classified as a narcotic, because of its high levels of THC (6 to 20%), when growing in a tropical or subtropical region, causing a psychotropic effect. There are different ways to take cannabis : marijuana, hashish, kief.
This drug is considered as “soft”, because it is not not physically addictive and carries less health threats than cocaine for example. It can also be used as an analgesic.

  • The possession, use, or sale of psychoactive cannabis products became illegal in most parts of the world in the early 20th century.
  • The effect of cannabis on a person depends on many factors including their size, weight and health.
  • Cultivation of cannabis for own one's consumption is depenalized in several EU countries, such as the Netherlands, Belgium and Spain.
Phraseology "Cannabis" is often used in a prepositional group, to refer to activities linked to cannabis.
